MuslimHacks 2026

MuslimHacks is Quebec’s largest Muslim tech event, bringing together students, developers, designers, entrepreneurs, and professionals for a weekend of building, learning, and connecting.

Hosted at Concordia University in Montreal on September 5–6, 2026, MuslimHacks was created with a bigger vision: to empower an underrepresented Muslim community in technology and help build a strong network of Muslim students and professionals in Quebec.

Over the weekend, participants will work in teams to tackle real-world challenges created with our partners, build solutions from scratch, receive mentorship from experienced professionals, and present their projects to a panel of judges.

What makes MuslimHacks special is the community behind it. Participants aren't only here to compete. They're here to meet like-minded Muslims, build lasting connections, discover opportunities, and contribute their skills toward solving meaningful problems.

Requirements

What to Build

MuslimHacks is a weekend hackathon where students work together on problems that affect Muslim communities.

Choose one of the challenges and build a software project around it. Your project can be a website, web app, mobile app, browser extension, or another type of software.

Keep the scope realistic. You do not need to build a full product in one weekend. Pick one main feature or user flow and make it work well.

What to Submit

Submit a short description of your project and a public GitHub link to your repository before the hackathon ends.

To explain your project, you may optionally make a video explaining it since it is better for judges to understand. However, it is not required. You can also add slides explaining the project.

Your description should explain what your project does, who it is for, and the problem it helps solve.

Judging Criteria

  • Business Level
    Does it solve the problem or an aspect of the problem? Is it easy to understand and to use? Is the “cost of running” sustainable? Is the reason for choosing this challenge problem or aspect of the problem convincing? Was there research done?
  • Delivery
    How was the live demo? Is it working? Is the project clearly presented and described? Is the pitch convincing? Would you invest in it? How do they answer follow-up questions?
  • Technical
    How is the architecture? Is the dominant architecture discernible? Is it appropriate for the project? Are they able to clearly describe the process for arriving at this solution?
